Today I had lunch w/my best friend, Bree. We ate at Piccolo...they serve homemade Horchata, I highly recommennd it. (That sounds as if I knew what Horchata was prior to today...not the case. I don't even really know what Horchata is, other than pure deliciousness with cinammon)
During lunch, we obviously discussed our loves lives, over Horchata & Refried Beans (sounds like a country song). Now, I don't mean to brag, but between the 2 of us, we've dated some real winners...I'll spare the bitter digs on ex-boyfriends, but they were all douchebags...with the exception of one of Brees, who we affectionately call 'Booger'
So here we are, single as can be yet still needing to fill some awkward void that is felt from being a single, twenty-something female. I'm not really sure how to describe that feeling other than "fairly small & insignificant in this giant world, still a little shaky at times, still kinda cute, but not as trendy as we used to be" (not unlike a chihuahua)
Basically...we need to feel worthwhile during our 'drought', so what did we do? We created something cool. We went to Home Depot & dropped some cash on annuals & perennials. (That sounds as if I knew what annuals & perennials were prior to today...not the case...had to call our moms & ask what to buy). We planted our asses off!! For hours and hours, we dug in the dirt & played in the soil & got ourselves filthy like we used to do when we were kids, except now we drink wine. Lots of wine.
We planted a beautiful little garden & completely delighted ourselves with colorful pots, filled with Mother Nature's goodness...flowers & plants & various funny-shaped cactii. Love ferns. Now, we have life, something to take care of that won't talk back. It is perfect!
It's our new bonding technique. Plant plants. Each week, we will go to the nursery & spend $5 on something new, and add him to the garden. By the end of summer, the city will rename our garden "Ladybird Autumn & Bree Wildflower Center' -- quite a sight to behold.
